Over 1,100 people boarded Logos Hope this weekend for the kick-off of Christmas around the World, a three-weekend open ship event. Sixteen cultural displays show how Christmas is celebrated in different parts of the world. The booths feature costumed representatives, national foods, and music. There is a live nativity (complete with a goat and a sheep), the book fair is fully open to the public for the first time, and guests can end their tour of the world by relaxing and enjoying a snack at the International Café. One visitor was so excited by the event that he took a handful of flyers to give to his friends and fellow university students. “This event is worth coming to,” he said. Some visitors have found connections with countrymen through the displays; one family connected so strongly with a crewmember that they are planning to meet in Malaysia for the Chinese New Year!
